JENNA

Practice Manager

Jenna joined the Sequoia Veterinary Hospital team back in August of 2007. She was born and raised here in the Bay Area, and volunteered at the Silicon Valley Humane Society for one year before she joined our receptionist staff at Sequoia. She has worn several hats in the hospital throughout the years; Surgical Coordinator, Lead Receptionist, Pharmacy Assistant, Inventory Manager and ultimately Practice Manager. She has a loveable Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Payton Monkey, a sweet & silly Cocker Spaniel mix named Morty, and one aquatic turtle (red-eared slider) named Jill. When Jenna is not working at Sequoia or petsitting, she loves spending time with friends and family, attending concerts, camping, drawing, and going on road trips.

RYAN

Back Office Manager

Ryan actually grew up in Southern California and lived on the other side of the country before finding his place at Sequoia. After high school he attended Cal Poly Pomona, where he received his BS in Animal Science, and interned at Inland Valley Humane Society. Eventually he moved to the Bay Area, where he started his career in animal medicine. He worked at a veterinary hospital in Daly City for four years before they moved to the east coast for a few years. There he stayed in the veterinary field, but had the opportunity to work closely with many farm animals in New Hampshire and especially Vermont! Ryan eventually found himself back in the bay area and with us here at Sequoia. He can be found spending his spare time hiking, cycling and working on his cars.

KAREN

Registered Veterinary Technician

Karen joined the Sequoia Veterinary Hospital team in August of 1980 (yes, that's not a typo). Karen graduated from the Foothill College Animal Health Technology program in June of 1980. She has provided us all with support through her skills and friendship and is a treasured part of this practice. She has seen many of our clients through multiple generations of treasured pets and continues to offer her best efforts every day to care for every individual dog and cat who comes through our door. Over these years, Karen's interests outside the veterinary hospital have also grown. She has worked as a dog trainer with specialties in obedience, Schutzhund, and AKC tracking. She practices karate and received her black belt in 2000. In recent years, Karen has become an avid scuba diver. She is a member of the Silicon Valley Scuba Diving Club and received her first dive master certification in 2003. Recently she attained the multi-level master diver certification which is very difficult. Due to her scuba diving interest and skill level, she has been able to travel the world and see parts of the ocean many of us only dream about. Karen has taken diving trips to Honduras, Belize, Bonaire Island, Channel Islands, the Philippines, and Palau, Micronesia. Just like the rest of us, Karen's life would not be complete without her menagerie of pets. Her home is shared with Miss Mouse the cat, a three-toed box turtle named Chester, and her Amazon parrot named Bea. She also enjoys gardening, baking, and making jams & jellies when she has time at home. She has won multiple ribbons at the San Mateo County Fair home preserves competition.

CRYSTAL

Veterinary Assistant

Have you seen Crystal before? If you have visited a veterinary clinic on the peninsula in the last 20 years, you might have. Crystal joined our team here at Sequoia in 2008. She came to us as a highly skilled veterinary assistant with many years of experience. Crystal grew up locally and at 19 years of age, she started working in veterinary medicine and knew immediately this was the industry she wanted to be in. Outside work, Crystal does a fair amount of petsitting, enjoys bike riding, playing bunka and poker, traveling and cuddling her sweet and sassy kitty, Ube.
